All across North America, musicians and music lovers are celebrating Early Music Month throughout March. Reminiscing Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday on March 21 and Women’s day on March 8, Ensemble Affect pays tribute to a few women who played an important role in Bach’s life and helped carry on his legacy. The program features canonic instrumental works by Bach as well as compositions dedicated to Maria Magdalena Bach. It revives the works by women composers studying with Johann Kirnberger, famously a student of J.S. Bach, and rediscovers musical works by enlightened German royalty from Bach’s time.
